'Alternative' Digipacks...

The front cover of the album/digipack suggests the alternative genre through the scene being fairly 'quaint' or different. The font used for the artists name and album title is not a standard front you would usually expect on an album cover, it almost looks like handwriting suggesting simplicity which is often linked in with the genre. The cover uses a variation of colours making it eye catching and fitting with the artist, Kate Nash's music is generally upbeat.
The back of the album case, uses the same font as the front, resembling handwriting. The names of the songs are listed over the page on a blue background with white font. Again, this is fairly basic however looks effective at the same time. There is also producer and copyright information in small print at the bottom of the page above the barcode, this is necessary for copyright reasons to the managment and artist.
On the inside double page spread of the front cover a photographic image is used on the right whilst lyrics to songs are written out on the left. Through using the image it allows consumers to follow the artists trends and their overall image/appearance. I expresses the artists personality and meaning to their music enabling consumers to 'follow' them and have an understanding of the artist visually. The image used is unrealistic however individual to her as an artist and perhaps suggests a character who's 'all over the place'; with the scene being set in a bathroom, there are black cats walking through which would suggest the artist has bad luck? Washing is hanging up in the bathroom again suggesting a slightly cluttered lifestyle, there is also a skeleton in the corner which would suggest to the consumer she is quirky much like the overall image she portrays.
The song titles above the lyrics are again in the handwriting style font followed by typed out lyrics simply on a white background in black font. This is effective due to the busy image over the other side of the double page spread.

The front cover of the album is very much individual to Florence as an artist. Through the name of the album being 'LUNGS', an artificial set of lungs have been placed underneath her clothes to represent this and highlight this. The title is then written over the top of this to emphasise the album title informing through wording and image. Many of her songs have a slightly eerie and distinctive feel to them, of which the front cover represents well. She seems to be placed in a natural looking environment which is similar to many of her music videos therefore representing the whole album and her image/style well.
Again the back of the album relates to the title 'LUNGS' as well, however the image is a diagram, black and white, graphical image of a set of lungs. The songs are then listed underneath in continuous prose, although they are not clear at a glance the page is effective and looks creative to the eye. The black and white emphasises the look of the lungs and allows the songs to be read clearly when a consumer would like to. Through continuing the lungs theme it allows the digipak to fit together and flow well, helping her statement image - the actual CD also has an image of lungs on it.
The inside double page spread, like many artists have, has one side as an image and the other as wording. The image is a picture of florence herself, allowing the consumer to see her image and style as an artist which is often what they are looking to see. Whilst on the other side of the double page spread there is the title to one of her songs 'Rabbit Heart' and simply accross the middle in a medium sized font so that the page doesnt look bare is a line from the song written out. This is simple yet effective and works well. However, often consmers like to be able to look up lyrics to the song of which they may be unsure on through using the digipak - as there is only one line this is not possible in this case although does look effective to the eye.
